Saturday morning (30th October 2010) saw me up bright and early and on the road with two of my friends to go to the Sew Blessed Quilt Show at Lilydale, Victoria. Sew Blessed is one of the quilting groups I go to, and this year I decided to put a couple of quilts in the show.
The Sew Blessed Quilt Show always has a theme and they set up lovely little scenes or vignettes with quilts, bags, runners and all sorts of theme appropriate paraphernalia. It’s always exciting to see what the theme will be, and this year?
Voilà! Paris. From the Eiffel Tower at the welcome table, to the stripy tees, jaunty berets and red neckerchiefs, and a cheery “Bon jour” as we walked in the door, the style was very chic.
The accordion player on the park bench provided beautiful music; surely his name must have been Pièrre or Jacques?
And the bicycle with its basketful of goodies could have come straight out of a French film.
Also very cute was the sewing room…
The free afternoon tea at “Le Café Churndash” was scrumptious – cupcakes decorated with the French flag of course, accompanied by beautiful little posies on the tables.
The “Village Market” was fun to explore with six patchwork shops having stalls. I did give in and make a couple of teeny purchases – well, we have to support our local shops don’t we?
The free pattern this year was a fleur de lis paper cut snowflake pattern which had already been used by many of the girls in a challenge, and these were on display around the room.
Lovely to see my friend Jeanie’s quilts on display – I especially love the hexagon one!
Once again girls you have put on a wonderful quilt show…. c’est magnifique! The quilts were delightful, the atmosphere friendly, and we had a wonderful morning. As my French teacher used to say all those years ago.… “très bon!”
Happy Quilting
