Valentine’s Day is a day put aside every year to let your sweetheart know how much you love them.
I think every day should be Valentine’s Day and you should let the person you love know in some small way every day how you feel.
The first recorded association of Romance and Valentine’s Day was in a poem written by Geoffrey Chaucer titled Parlement of Foules:
“For this was Saint Valentine’s Day, when every bird cometh there to choose his mate.”
Chaucer’s love birds have been a symbol of love since 1382 and Mez and I thought it would be nice to create a handmade gift with this in mind, that you could fill with tasty treats or scented flowers.
So our ‘Be Mine – Valentine’s Day Cones’ were born. They have a poem stitched on them saying: “you hold a special place in my heart” and two little love-birds (or love-bugs) holding a heart. We thought it was a cute idea to fill them with heart chocolates.
They are so quick and easy to make in only a day with scraps of fabric from your stash. So it’s just in time for Valentine’s Day!
We hope you enjoy making them as much as we did and that your sweetheart will know how you feel about them with a special handmade gift.
Happy Stitching!
