Over the Christmas break Mez and I like to catch up on projects that we have started but not had a chance to finish.
Often these patterns are from other fabulous Australian Designers that we fall in love with or quilts made for friends.
I started a quilt called ‘Love is a Gift’ by Material Possessions about 6 years ago and finally I finished the quilt top (except for 1 border)! I’m so wrapped with it, I’m just waiting on some fabric to finish it off. But I can show you where I’m up to. (I did change the pattern slightly though)
This is a pattern from Melly and me called ‘Snowflake’ that I bought at the Daylesford Craft Retreat last year. I am a bit of a sucker for Melly’s softies and have been hanging to make it – my Snowflake is a girl. I’ve only just finished her and think that next year she will be the pride of my Christmas decorations thus far!
One of my closest friends had a baby just before Christmas… on the 23rd of December to be exact, so Mez decided to make a quilt with snuggly polor flece on the back. I think it has turned out beautifully and the poem on the back just finishes it perfectly.
Have a read and see what you think?
And last but not least… Mez likes to make at least one new Christmas quilt a year and while we were out on one of our many fabric frolics we fell in love with this gingerbread panel. So many discussions later on just what to do with it… we came up with this!
To finish it Mez embellished it with as many gingerbread buttons as she could find (which was surprisingly many) and now it is all ready for Christmas… only 11 months to go!
There were other projects started and finished but patterns still have to be written so keep an eye out for what might be up next!
Happy Quilting
